Pollyanna McIntosh
Pollyanna McIntosh grew up in Portugal
and Colombia before returning to her home in Scotland in Scotland, where she
was born. It was here that she first began to perform on stage, at The
Edinburgh Festival. At 16 she moved to London where she quickly began to get
involved in independent filmmaking. (Her first paid gig on The Acid House was
as an actor with Irvine Welsh (1998)). She has also participated in theater as
both an actress as well as director. The move to Los Angeles in 2004 led to
more stage work. She directed Anne Dudek (a regular star on Mad Men/Big Love
(2006)) as well as David Dayan Fisher (a regular actor in 24 (2001/NCIS 2003))
to great reviews. In Headspace (2005), she made her debut US film role as
"Stacy", a manipulative and a born-again Christian. It was as the
crazy "Thumper Wint" in the comedy, Sex and Death 101 (2007) (Simon
Baker/Winona Ryder) which was written from Heathers (1988) author Daniel
Waters, that the critics started to become aware of her talent, noting the
unique combination of strong sexuality and irreverent humor. Working in both LA
and London, Exam (2009) was the next film, which was nominated for BAFTA as
Outstanding British Debut and winner of Best Independent at the Santa Barbara
Film Fest, the film's critics noted Pollyanna's performance was "smart and
sassy in equal measure ....the emotional center of the film" The film's
critics praised her ability to discover the "emotional vulnerability"
of her seemingly tough and ambitious character. GQ simply stated "stunning
Pollyanna McIntosh is an extraordinarily talented actress". Como Quien No
Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! She is Trevor Lock, a
disgruntled Brit comedian. She is fluent in Spanish throughout the film which
was made in Peru. John Landis directs Burke and Hare (2010). She is Isla
Fisher's friend, as well as Andy Serkis and Jessica Hynes and Tom Wilkinson.
Lucky McKee's The Woman (2011) was an enormous success. It was praised by
critics and topped New York Times readers' favorite movies poll. She received
three Best Actress nominations, including Total Film’s Frightfest Award as well
as Fright Meter's.
