Robin Gayle
Robin Gayle Wright was the daughter of
Gayle (Gaston) who was a national director at Mary Kay and Freddie Wright who
was a pharmacist executive. She grew up in San Diego, California. She began her
career as a model at age 14, and was a model in Paris as well as Japan. She
chose to become an actress after she had graduated from high school. She was
chosen to be a part of the soap-opera Santa Barbara (1984), which was nominated
three more times for Daytime Emmys. During the first season of the show she was
in love with fellow cast member Dane Witherspoon, whom she got married in 1986.
In 1987, she portrayed the title role in The Princess Bride. After she left the
cast of Santa Barbara, she got the role of the lead in Denial (1990) together
with Jason Patric. She met Sean Penn in 1990 while she was appearing in State
of Grace (1990). They had daughters Dylan Frances with him and an infant son
called Hopper Jack. Robin came back to Hollywood after a long absence with one
of her most memorable roles: Tara in The Playboys (1992). She was absolutely
stunning and amazing. She was a star in Toys (1992) which was an comedy that
starred Robin Williams. It was hilarious. In 1994, Wright was in the
blockbuster success Forrest Gump (1994), alongside Tom Hanks. Wright was nominated
for the Golden Globe Award for her role as Jenny. She was given a minor role in
The Crossing Guard (1995), which starred Jack Nicholson. After being rejected
for 14 roles, she was offered the lead part in MGM/UA's Moll Flanders (1996).
The film was directed by Pen Densham and featured Morgan Freeman, Stockard
Channing, and Morgan Freeman. Next, she starred with William Hurt in Erin
Dignam’s Loved (1997).
