Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones was born in Los Angeles,
California, the youngest daughter of a media mogul, producer and musician
Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. Her older sister is Kidada Jones, as
well as five half-siblings from the relationships of her father's previous
relationships. Her father is African American and her mother Ashkenazi Jewish
(a descendant emigrants of Russia and Latvia). Rashida was raised Reform
Judaism. She was born in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California. Jones stated that
her mixed-race parentage was not accepted in the society of the 1970s. Jones
began her debut as a professional actor in The Last Don in 1997 the mini-series
based on Mario Puzo. Also in 1997, Rashida graduated from Harvard University.

The singer was featured in the tribute song to Tupac Shakur, who was engaged to
her sister Kidada Jones. Kidada and Rashida were created by Quincy Jones III,
the brother of Quincy Jones III. Quincy Jones III was present at the beginning
of the song and recited the lines of Shakur's poem "Starry Night."
The poem inspired the song's title. Rashida's father, who is African-American,
has a lesser amount of English, Scottish and Welsh ancestral ancestry (some
relatives of Rashida's African relatives are from the Tikar people in
Cameroon). Rashida's mother, Ashkenazi Jewish (of Russian Jewish heritage as
well as Latvian Jewish heritage), is Rashida. Her paternal grandparents, who
were both of South Carolina, and Mississippi are the paternal grandparents of
her father. Her maternal grandfather was born in New York and her maternal
grandmother was from Eastern European Jewish descent, was born in Dublin,
Ireland. As of the end of 2009, has played three characters that go by the name
"Karen" on the cult classic television comedies (Freaks and Geeks
(1999), Stella (2005) and The Office (2005)).
