Alona Tal

Alona Tal, an Israeli American actress and singer, was born October 20, 1983 in Herzliya. Her career began when she was in the Israeli Defense Forces. Her biggest break came in 2003 , when she was the lead in an Israeli film. In 2003, she played in two TV shows in Israel. She she also tried her hand at music and recorded a number of songs along with Israeli rapper Subliminal. Tal moved in with her sister in New York to take a break from her career. She worked with Wyclef Jean, one of the Haitian artist, on the song "Party to Damascus". American television also saw her establish herself with a regular role in the show Veronica Mars. She initially auditioned for the role of lead however, the show's creator Rob Thomas created a new character for her. Tal eventually earned a regular position in the CBS series. Participated in two TV series in Israel before changing to New York. Wyclef Jean was her singing partner. Hebrew is her mother tongue. Second choice for the role of Veronica on Veronica Mars (2004).Originally auditioned for Veronica Mars (2004) and was Rob Thomas' second choice to play the title role. Thomas loved her so much that he conceived the recurring character Meg Manning just for her. She served in the Israel Defense Forces. Both of her parents are Jews. Her father is Turkish/Jewish while her mother is Polish/Jewish. She is Adrian Monk's wife who was murdered in the finale episode of Monk (2002).
