Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American actress and singer with Irish descent. The passionate, fiery roles she appeared in range of American films were loved by the green-eyed beauty who had flashing hair and fiery eyes. Her beautiful look and natural beauty were well-received. She was known in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". Her character on screen was a reflection of her strong, courageous spirit who was fighting for recognition and survival in the world of males. She was referred to as the "tough Irish girl" and refused to compromise her standing or respect to get the roles she earned through merit. In her time in the field of film she always spoke out against discrimination and unfair treatment against female actors. For this, she gained a lot of followers. Her autobiography, "Tis Herself", was published in 2004. It gave an honest and transparent narrative of her life and the difficulties she encountered when climbing the ladder of success. She was an adventurous woman who was never afraid to perform her own stunts. She was a part of more than 60 films and became a cult celebrity across the globe. After leaving Parra her second marriage, she got married in the year 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a brigadier in the past and chief pilot and a pioneer of transatlantic aviationto mention some of the accomplishments. O'Hara went on to retire a few years after their marriage. Blair, however, died in a tragic crash on a plane in 1978. O'Hara's joy was only temporary. In the same year, she was also diagnosed as having uterine cancer and had to undergo immediate surgery. She was able to recover. Over the next few years, her health deteriorated and she suffered from six heart attacks, memory loss in the short term and diabetes mellitus type 2. O'Hara, 95 years of age, died peacefully in Boise (Idaho) on the 24th of October , 2015.
